In 1834, a small group of believers in the Netherlands adopted what would become known as the "Act of Secession and Return." That act would have far-reaching impact on Reformed believers in North America, even down to our present day. In 1984, the professors at Mid-America Reformed Seminary wrote these essays in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Act of Secession and Return. Essays by Dr. Peter Y. DeJong, Dr. Nelson Kloosterman, Rev. Henry Vander Kam, and Rev. Mark Vander Hart examine the events leading up to the Act, the Act itself, and the importance of this event in the spiritual legacy of Reformed Churches, particularly those in Michigan and west of the Mississippi River.
